COVID-19 Update

- +

The health and safety of our patrons is always at the forefront of our minds and we look forward to welcoming audiences back in late September to enjoy the live performing arts once again.

Based on guidance from health authorities and government agencies, and in consultation with other performing arts centers in our region, for the time being, The Grand will be requiring proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the event for entry into its theaters. In addition, patrons, volunteers, and staff will be required to wear a mask indoors regardless of vaccination status, unless they are actively eating or drinking.

The decision was made after watching the dramatic surge of COVID-19 cases as the Delta variant spreads through the United States.

The vaccination policy will be in effect on September 1 and will cover all public events within The Grand’s footprint (including performances by outside promoters). The first performance hosted at The Grand is comedian Brian Regan on September 26, 2021. By making this announcement now, The Grand is looking to provide as much time as possible for patrons to schedule an appointment for a vaccination or testing.

Vaccine And Mask Policy

Effective September 1, The Grand and The Playhouse on Rodney Square are joining performing arts centers across the nation in requiring that our visitors and audience members provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend all indoor public performances and events in all venues. If you are unable to be vaccinated for a medical or religious exception, you will need to provide a negative COVID-10 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to your event.

Indoor Mask Policy and Enforcement

Masks will be required when inside the building for all audiences, staff, volunteers, and crew. Our performers will not be required to wear masks. Patrons who are unable or unwilling to follow this policy will be removed from the theater.

Increased Cleaning & Sanitation Procedures

We’re increasing frequency and thoroughness of disinfection of high-touch areas with CDC-recommended products; and we’ve equipped each of our venues with numerous hand sanitizer dispensers.

We have also made significant improvements to our HVAC systems to meet CDC recommendations, maximizing fresh air intake per hour, and using recommended Merv-13 air filters to optimize air quality.
