Frequently Asked Questions

What does my gift support?

Ticket sales cover only 45 % of the costs of operating The Grand, because we have lower ticket prices than for-profit theatres -- as a public service to keep the arts affordable for the most people. Gifts from generous donors support exceptional local entertainment, arts education, diverse community programming, and historical preservation of one of the great architectural gems of the United States. When you support The Grand, you also become a part of the vibrant renaissance of Wilmington.

How much of my gift is tax-deductible?

In appreciation for your generous support, The Grand offers exciting benefits to our donors. The fair market value of the benefits you receive will vary according to your level of giving. Download a PDF containing more information on tangible value of benefits offered at various giving levels. After making your gift, you will receive a gift acknowledgement letter that indicates the value of your benefits and the amount that may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

What if I do not want to receive benefits?

When you waive your benefits, your entire gift is directed to making a difference at The Grand. Indicate with your gift that you do not wish to receive benefits, making your gift fully tax-deductible. You can also contact Daniel Smith in the Development Office at 302-658-7897 ext. 3302 or mmitchell@grandopera.org to request no benefits.

What if my name has an error or is missing from the donor listings in the program book and/or lobby boards?

The Grand Opera House team makes every effort to maintain accurate donor listings to show our appreciation for making a difference. If you find an omission or error in your listing, contact Daniel Smith in the Development Office at 302-658-7897 ext. 3302 or mmitchell@grandopera.org.

When and how can I schedule a private tour of The Grand?

As a benefit of your gift, donors of $150 or more (Patron level and above) are entitled to private tours of The Grand. You will receive special invitations to scheduled tour events. For your convenience, tours are also available by request. Contact the Development Office at 302-658-7897 for more information.

What is The Grand Season Preview Party?

Packed with exciting audio and video clips of the upcoming season and a light reception to follow, the Season Preview Party is an exclusive event for donors of $150 or more (Patron level and above). The event will be scheduled in conjunction with the announcement of the new season. Invitations will be sent by mail and it is an event you do not want to miss!

How will I be informed of artist meet and greet events?

Meet and greet events are scheduled with select artists subject to their approval and availability. If you are a donor of $365 or more (Solo level and above) and are holding tickets to a performance in which a meet and greet is scheduled, you will be personally invited before the performance by the development team.
