Capitol Steps

This troupe of former Congressional staffers expertly satirizes the goings-on in American politics, digging into the headlines and hot topics of the day by creating new lyrics for familiar tunes. “The best…there’s no one like them,” raves Larry King, one of many celebrities and politicians who have performed with the troupe, including Al Gore, Sam Donaldson, Michael Dukakis, and George Bush. Over the past 16 years, the troupe has been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard 4 times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials. From Obama to Octomom, no current event is left untouched!

“The Capitol Steps make it easier to leave public life,” says former President George Bush of the group’s unrelenting political satire. The Steps perform over four hundred shows a year, and have recorded over 18 albums since they were founded in 1981. Their material is updated constantly, and whether lampooning President Obama or Ann Coulter, the Capitol Steps are equal opportunity offenders.
