A great performance by an acclaimed touring artist at The Grand is just part of the overall Grand Experience. We aspire to make your entire time with The Grand comfortable and enjoyable.

Downtown Wilmington

The downtown has changed and continues to develop into a premier destination. New restaurants, shops, and residences are opening, and there's more vibrant activity on the streets. Cleaning and safety personnel from Downtown Visions are also friendly ambassadors for the downtown experience. This fall, The Grand will be launching a special new collaboration with the many fine dining establishments downtown that will be another exclusive benefit for CYOP buyers.

Parking

Ample and inexpensive parking is available just steps from The Grand. Street parking is free after 6 pm, and several affordable garages are easily accessible: Colonial Midtown (9th & Shipley), Custom House (under the Doubletree Hotel at 7th & King), a WPA lot at 8th & Orange. This summer, a new garage, HyPark, opens on Shipley between 9th & 10th. CYOP buyers receive free parking vouchers at either the Custom House or HyPark garages. Consult the convenient map for specific locations.

Ambience

Arrive a few minutes early to your performance and enjoy the beautiful décor and environment of the historic Grand Opera House. Have a drink in the charming surroundings of the Sarah Bernhardt Salon off the main lobby. Enjoy the talents of regional visual artists in our lobby gallery spaces. Or tour through The Grand's fascinating past in the History Hallway. And then, have our helpful and enthusiastic volunteer ushering staff escort you to your seats in the acoustically-perfect and handsomely-restored opera house.

Bonus Experiences

Concert evenings at The Grand frequently feature local guest and student artists performing live in The Sarah Bernhardt Salon. In 2008-09, we will launch Grand Conversations, occasional pre- and post-show programs that explore some aspect of the artistic experience. Some may even feature a guest appearance by one of our artists.
